Staff officer's scarlet wool cloth mess jacket with black shawl collar and cuffs (facings), lined throughout with red satin. The black shoulder straps are edged with 18mm wide gold braid or trim velvet rank insignia for a brigadier. The straps are attached to the jacket at the neck with gold brass buttons for the Royal Australian Army Survey Corps. Jacket is sewn to the back lining.
