MacDonald Dress Ancient Tartan is a white-based tartan with colourful red, green and blue checks. Woven using 100% Pure New Wool this tartan is available for made to measure products, accessories, soft furnishings and craft projects.
This tartan descended from Donald, grandson of Somerled of the Isles, and is the oldest and more famous of all Scottish Clans. The Lords of the Isles held sway over large territories and ruled as independent princes. They supported Bruce in his struggle for Independence, but their claim to the Earldom of Ross brought them into conflict with the Crown.
